I've shot a buck (6pt) with one lit and in my mouth at less than 10 yards about 10 years ago. Doesn't seem to be a problem if up in a tree. I think its ok for deer but if ya want a mature buck ya probably can't get away with it. JMO

PS. I still smoke but leave the house scent free and don't take any smokes with me when i hunt now.
