Cashmere- good as sheep wool?

I saw cashmere sweater in a thrift store while shopping for wool hunting clothes and wonder if cashmere is as good as sheep wool.

My wife said you should have "jumped " on this bargain,,, Cashmere is from the baby lambs and is real soft in comparison to the older, rougher sheep;)

Usually cashmere sweaters are a very loose weave. I doubt it would have been as warm as a tight weaved plain old wool. It wears much faster. IT's mucho expensive.

I did a google search and cashmere comes from the under downy fir of sellected Kashmir goats (feels as soft as cotten), the price is right at $5.00. Just wondering how it holds up when wet like sheep wool does.
