The reason i need you to read this as soon as possible is because someone is at walmart right now that could by me something different if needed but they won't be in another 20 minutes.

My question is is a 1.75 inch cutting diameter 3 blade broadhead too much? Its a mechanical broadhead so it opens on contact. My wondering is will it pass all the way through? Where i'm hunting is surrounded by corn so a blood trail to follow would be a dominant plus. What do you suggest if you think the broadheads i have no aren't going to work greatly?

1 3/4 cut is a pretty wide cut but it depends on your KE if you will get a complete passthrough. IF you want to buy them I would go to that.

Fully agree with Trapper...better have enough KE to open that bhead with 1.75 cutting dimeter.

Any sharp bhead with a well placed shot will give you that.

Yikes.........1.75" is a lotta blade for a mechanical.........better be pushing a lot of KE or passthrough won't be likely.

Why not just play it safe and get a good quality fixed head if you are not sure. Error on the side of caution.

If you are going out hunting tomorrow with these new heads my advice would change to............don't even go.

Not until you are sure where whatever heads you choose are hitting out of your bow. Don't assume they will hit the same as your fieldtips.

I have these broadheads and have been practising with them, its just i read something that said you shouldn't have over a 1.5 inch diameter so that you can make sure the arrow goes through the deer which will give you a better blood trail, also said that 2 blades is better than one because more likely to go through. Thats why i made that post.

I don't think having 1.75 cutting dimeter bheads is a terrible thing, but you better know that you have the bow setup to allow that big of a bhead to perform the way they should. I would say that if everyone polled on what the cutting diameter of their bhead was...it would be, on average, 1 1/4. I use Rocket Sidewinder 3's that is at 1 1/2, but on whitetails that is about as high as I would go. The rest in my opinion is overkill(if you have the bow to shoot the bigger bheads correctly). Any bhead between 1 1/8 and 1 1/2 would be fine and most bows are good enough for mechs to perform correctly between that range. The fixed blade guys can help you out better on this, but I'd say that most of those bhead cutting diameters are about 1 1/8-1 1/4 and they work great for those who use them. Don't switch to something different that you aren't used to and are proficient with, but in the off season....I'd go smaller.
