Scrape Problem

I made a scrape about 15 yards from my stand. It is about 3' by 3'. I bought the scrape kit at Wal-Mart for $20. In the middle of the scrape there is a root sticking out. It is about 2 inches in diameter. It sticks up about 3 inches. Will this affect the scrape? Does the Active Scrape deer urine work well? I can get 1 oz for $5 or 4 oz for $20 and a "free" dripper. Is the urine in the dripper combo good? How far from my stand should I make my scrape? I have not had any activity except for one coyote track. I wore rubber gloves and was scent free. The rut starts Jan 17. Thank you guys.

RE: Scrape Problem

lots of factors come into play when making mock scrapes. A few things you should pay attention too is if bucks have made scrapes in that area in the past? Do you have an overhanging licking branch? Are you in a well traveled area for deer? Is the timing right? If you made sure of all that and were scent free then the root shouldnt bother anything. Remember alot of scrape activity is done at night altho the scrape dripper should help since they only drip during the day. Hope I helped alittle. Good luck getting a monster.
