My clothes smell like pine in a hardwoods forest

I have all of my clothes in a container filled with pine needles. The nearest pine tree is about twenty yards from me. Every other tree is a hardwood. I smell like a pine tree eighteen feet high in a hardwood tree. Could this scare the deer off? Should I use hardwood leaves?

Somewhere there are bound to be other conifers among those hardwoods , I would think it somewhat strange if there weren't in Ms. It really shouldn't faze the deer . Get some forest duff for storing your clothes in that container if it bothers you that much , or make some bark tea to spray on them . Acorn tea will attract them too .

It is way back in the woods. It floods a lot there. Pines do not grow in flooded areas.

Man don't sweat the small stuff. Too many people try and make deer hunting more complicated than it needs to be. A pine smell 20 yards from a pine tree is not going to scare any deer. Pine is strong anyway. It should be a natural smell in any woods where there are pines located. I don't think the deer are thinking " Hey there aren't any pines around here? Now if it were Chanel #5 you smelled like...!!

Zak!

Don't sweat it ,there are pine tree's in the area so the deer won't be alarmed to smell it .I know that I've used pine scent in a area where there wasn't any pine's, and I got busted but with pine's near by, this shouldn't impose in a problem for you.
I just recommend that you need to be careful of the scent's that you use ,if your hunting a hardwood bush an apple scent or a pine scent will put the deer in a defensive mode if they happen to live in this area and they know best what odour's are unusual in thier domane.

Zak,

Love your art work man! Listen, you're twenty yards from pines and eighteen feet (6yards) up in a tree. Whitetails may be very sensitive but they would have to be smarter than you to figure that one out. And we do shoot them.

I agree with ShadowAce. The smell of pine in a hardwood area isn't gonna alarm deer. It's a natural woodsy smell anyway. Don't sweat it. I would concentrate my efforts on stand placement and concealment.

Great drawing. Nice detail. Come to think of it I should do that too. As for the pine smell. As long as you smell like pine and not human you should be fine.
