using scent

deer dont seem to be as scared of human scent as everybody says
two does came downwind of where i was and started eating.
they were about 10 feet from where i took a piss and 5 feet from where my atv was

RE: using scent

I don't think it is necessarily that they aren't afraid of human scent, but more of how much or how strong the scent is. I have had deer walk down the same trail that I just walked down an hour earlier and act like nothing is wrong. Hell, my dad, last season, had a deer sniff the ladder he used to get in his stand just 15 minutes prior and never got spooked. I believe that we get a little carried away with how much scent we leave behind and how much we give off. Although, it never hurts to be overly cautious.

I believe if we use the proper scent away product's after we shower and the scent formula's that we use on our cloth's help tremendously.I'm not sold on the scent lok since I've had no problem's with getting deer close to me while in stand ,bt i do use scent soap's and shampoo's before i leave the house .The least amount of scent that you leave near stand is definetly beneficial to our success.
