RE: Morning Or Evening
The way this season's going, neither has produced any deer... Seems we've had swirling winds though and mostly rain here in NY.
In general, I find evenings more convienent but mornings are more productive...

Who says? Take it if that's what you enjoy!!!
I'm not supposed to take coffee in a stand. If I can't have my coffee I ain't goin.
Anyway, question for you morning guys, how long do you usually stay out? Sunrise here is around 7:00am now, couple hours? More?

Right now...evening...for me the evening is the only time I can make it out there at this time.
As for the deer patterns...either would be fine....I like both...but family scheduling & work are controlling my hunting times.

Morning...for a couple reasons.
1. You can set up significantly ahead of time without having to worry about spooking deer as they are typically out in the fields feeding.
2. After shooting the animal you do not have to worry about trailing it in the dark.
3. As the morning progresses you stand somewhat of a better chance if there are other hunters out there moving through the general area.
4. You have more time to process the animal immediately following the kill in warmer weather.

I like watching the woods get light in the morning and I like the tracking light, but most years (and ESPECIALLY THIS year) the evenings have resulted in more sightings.

Nothing like seeing the woods come alive in the morning.
Due to a early season muzzleloading trip I took over the weekend up by the St. Lawrence, this was the first morning I got out with my bow. (NYS Southern zone)
Of course it was raining/drizzling...with an east wind which we rarely get, so none of my stands are set up for it. Nevertheless, I had a doe and 2 little ones milling about out in front of me (never got closer than 30-40 yds...damn) for about 45 minutes.
I sat until 10 am....3 hrs in one stand is about my limit. It was awesome.
