Practicing with Mechanical Broadheads
Do those of you that shoot mechanical broadheads actually practice with them to make sure they're shooting like your fieldpoints? Or, do you just sight in your fieldpoints and have confidence and faith that the mechanical broadhead is gonna fly like your fieldpoints? I'm just wondering about this because I'm really wanting to try mechanicals this year. I just didn't know if you could shoot mechanicals at a target without severly messing them up. Thanks!

RE: Practicing with Mechanical Broadheads
You'd better practice with them because they may very well not fly exactly like your field tips. You might as well figure on dulling at least one set and using that one strictly for practice.

RE: Practicing with Mechanical Broadheads
Phantom,
I shoot Rocky Revolutions. I have 2 heads that I use for practice. I do shoot them into my Block target. I have not had any problems doing this. I purchased 2 packages of the heads, loaded 4 into the quiver, and practice with the other two. I can shoot several shots in my practice routine with field tips, but I finish with those two practice broadheads just to keep my confidence level high. The Revolutions have replacement blade cartridges, so I can make sure I always have 4 good ones in the quiver. Guess I am one of those guys that does not want to be in the stand wondering if my expandables are dead on or maybe off the mark to some degree. As a hunter, I need more confidence in my equipment than that. I have to know. You should not have trouble shooting quality heads into a block type target. Good luck. Bill |
