Man do I love this sport

I was hunting today in the old dominion and I got up in my tree about 2pm after scouting an area and finding a funnel that had some deer sign. The wind was blowing like no tommorow and I was as excited as a kid on christmas morning, but kinda of fearfull that mother nature was working against me and I would not see any deer.Around 4pm , between the wind gust I hear some leaves crunching, so I turn my head to the right and see a small doe working her way up the hill at about 25yds.Too small in my book for the freezer so I let her walk hoping her mother would soon been in tow.So I sit and sway in the wind until 6:45 and her mother never shows herself and I leave the woods with all my doe tags in hand. That to me is hunting at it's finest.Man do I love this sport

Yea me too. THis is my first year bowhunting and I don't know why I never did start any sooner. The best part I think is the challenge of getting a perfect part and being that close to the animals. Sometime last week I went out and about 15 minutes left in Legal shooting hours 2 does and 3 fawns walked into the field. Then about 5 mins later I looked and about 15 yards from me stood a 4 pt (I killed it Sunday wid a 30-30 in youth hunt) I drew my bow back waiting for it to take a couple more steps but it turned around walked about 10 yards from me where I had NO chance to shoot and kept stomping the ground and snorting. This is a fun sport and I am starting to get my grandma into it. Happy huntin

I didn't get out opening morning here in PA on Oct 2nd. I was able to make it out late in the afternoon to a loc on I had set early in Sept. I sat there several hours in the rain. The next day friends and family asked if I saw anything. I smiled and said, no, not a thing, it was a great night....it left them baffled but I think we as bowhunters understand.

One day might be ok to not see deer. even the next day. maybe EVEN the day after that. But when you go 10 straight times without seeing a deer, well, hunting sucks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I actually ended that streak tonight but i only caught a glimpse of a deer's butt as it was running away from me. ugh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I hate hunting!!! Wait no, I didn't say that.

That's for sure Rob,I enjoy every night I get out whether i see deer or not ,it get's even better if I see deer. There's no better feeling that whether you take a deer or not that you know that you could have taken one if you wanted ,so as far as I'm concerned I"m successful almost everytime out and haven't even taken a deer .Hopefully you guy's know what I mean.

Sirchance do you hunt in southwestern WI. I was out last night in 25+ mph winds too. I spent the last 3 hours facing that wind. I was starting to think I was crazy because I don't know if I have ever had such a good time. I saw 2 nub bucks, a small (1.5 year old) doe and a big doe. I was just buck hunting last night so I let her walk. All these deer came within 10 yards of me and none of them knew I was there.

Anyway I am glad I am not the only one so excited about NOT getting anything.
