New Bow Choice
I am thinking about buying a new bow after this season. I was wanting some input on what you guys think would be my best choice. Im not really worried about price because i will have my graduation money. I am a left handed shooter.
Thanks for any input |
RE: New Bow Choice
there are so many get bows out there bowtech, matthews ,martin ,pse/browning hoyt. The best thing you can do is decided how you are going to use it(hunting I am sure) but I mean fingers release ground tree stand all things to consider. the best thing to do is try out as many different models that you can and pick the one that feels most comfortable in your hands because in the end you are the one who is going to be pulling the string back. for example you could be told by a 100 people that bowtech is the best or matthews but if you go and try one out they might not feel comfortable in your hands. Good luck and enjoy whatever model you decide on.

RE: New Bow Choice
I love my new AR-34bow, I have been shooting PSE products for a long time.
AR is made by PSE. Try a lot of bows. If money is not an issue as you said, look at the popular high end bows and get an outfitter to set you up right. Matthews, PSE, AR, Hoyt, and Bowtech would be the five I would try to shoot to determine what feels the best and which one you perceive as the quietest. There are reasons the more expensive bows are very popular, they are fast, quiet, and forgiving. Remember, the higher the brace height, the more forgiving (meaning more accurate on a consistant basis). Higher brace height will be a bit slower but you probably won't even notice unless you are practicing long 45+ yard shots. Good Luck! |
RE: New Bow Choice
I've owned two PSE bows. My first for 11 years and I just bought a new one. Becasue I had good luck with the first I decided to stay loyal. But, there are many, many great bows on the market. The best advise is to shoot as many as you can. One bow should stick out and feel better to you then the rest and that's the bow you should buy. Don't let the shop steer you into a particular bow, shoot all you can and you'll know which is right for you.

RE: New Bow Choice
I have owned a few bows starting off with my PSE, then a fred bear, and now i own the new mathews outback. I would have to say it is prolly the sweetest shooting bow that i have ever shot or owned. The down side to this is that they are kinda expensive. You can pick up one for about 6 to $700. But the are worth the difference. Good Luck!

RE: New Bow Choice
My neighbor is KS_bowhunter and his outback is the smoothest damn thing that i have ever shot. i own a PSE pro line model called the TRITON. its as short as his Mathews but even with a high dollar stabilizer its not as good as his. the thing of it is my bow, a dozen arrows, dropaway, broadheads, stabilizer, and quiver cost less than his bare bow. if you got the money $ spend it on a top of the line bow. I didn't have the dough but i am more than pleased with my new toy and it shoots really fast and surprisingly accurate. i shot a 1/2 grown coyote the other day and it ran about 15 yards.

RE: New Bow Choice
All the above advice is good advice.....
As most will agree - get a bow from a well known company....... HOWEVER Dont get one because the guy at the pro shop has it, or your friend... GET THE BOW THAT FEELS BEST TO YOU PERSONALLY......... I too have the AR34. For the money it is a fantastic bow. I replaced my Bear with it....and love it. I have a trophy taker drop away on it and shoot great groups out to 60 yards..... Remember- what feels good in YOUR HAND, not what someone says feels good in theirs..... OH yea.... Shoot at least 4 bows...... preferably from Mathews, PSE, AR, Hoyt, Bowtech,Martin, or Dartin......depends on distribution in your area- there are also other good makes.... but try to shoot as many as possible - and remember to MAKE SURE the 'test bow' comes close to fitting you - if you have a 27" draw - dont shoot a 30" draw - too hard to make a good decision......One of the biggest mistakes MANY people make each year is too long a draw length....better to mistake to short side - you will shoot better.... GOOD LUCK !! :) |
RE: New Bow Choice
There's a long list of bow's out there in the market,I think you need to narrow it down to 3 brand's and decide on the budget and try one in your budget from each company and decide from there .I'm partial to BowTech but I like Hoyt, Martin and Mathew's as well but BowTech siuted my need's a little better than the other's .Good luck on finding a new bow and keep us in the loop on which brand you decide on.You also need to think of the availibility of these brands as well you don't want to be traveling hour's to get to your dealer in case of warranty work that may be needed to it .

RE: New Bow Choice
I have a Parker and would recommend it to anyone. It is quiet, fast, and affordable. I have owned PSE's in the past. In fact, I just got a good deal on a new PSE Bruin--29"--70#--8" brace height. I bought it for a backup, but after setting it up and using it for a while....I am growing quite fond of it. Try several to find what you like. Shoot your friend's bows. Take your time.
