Default Mock scrapes/scrape drippers

Anyone ever fooled with this? I am curious about it and any success people have had. I saw one advertised that said it could train a nocturnal deer to check these scrapes during the daylight cause that was how it was timed. Just curious to eveyones opinon's/stories. I am in East Texas if that influences your answer at all as far as it beeing useful for me. Any info on location for the scarpes, time of year etc. would be helpful. Thanks

Default RE: Mock scrapes/scrape drippers

Most drippers are designed to drip durring daylight only. How they work is when it's cold (at night) the fluid contracts and is drawn back into the dripper. as the sun comes up and the dripper warms up the liquid it expands and starts dripping until the temps cool and the cycle starts all over again.

Mock scrapes can be an effective way to hunt but you must take every percaution to be scent free when setting them up. If you leave human scent in the area the gig is up and a mature animal will stay away. I started some scrapes back early in the year and they have been active sine april. I've steered clear of them in the past couple of months to allow the animal to do their thin undisturbed. When the rut picks up I'm planning to hunt over them with my climber. Only time will tell just how effective they are.

****If your making mock scrapes don't forget the licking branch. this may be even more important then the scrape itself.****
