got 1-after 5 years
 

I have been bowhunting for 5 years and this weekend I finally got a small buck. He was small and maybe I should have let him go, but it put meat in my freezer and gave me my first bowkill. This picture is a prime example of how to NOT take a picture of your deer...in the garage, junk in the background, no camo, no smile....It was late when I finally got the deer and it was too dark for the pictures to work in the woods.

way to go buckmaster, your first with a bow is always a trophy, the next one will be bigger, your broke the ice, got the skunk out of the boat, you'll forget alot of things, but this won't be one of them, way to stick with it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No way! You've broken the ice now and got some reward for your effort. Do me a favor though, smile:). You should be happy. In the future if you want to raise you standards that's fine. If you start out looking to only kill a P&Y buck you might go 25 years before your first shot let alone kill.

Congrats on first blood with your bow. You'll remember him for a lifetime:)

Good job, don't feel like you have to apologize for the size of the buck or the picture...we all start somewhere!

Because of all of the ups and downs on your bowhunting journey, the effort, the disappointments along the way, and wondering if it will ever happen for you, that buck is as good as a "Booner"! "First Blood" is something that even time can't wash away.

Well BuckMaster congratulations on your first bow kill. Even thou its not a huge buck it will still always be a trophy because it was your first bow kill.

I've been holding out for the right buck, but if I had it to do again I'd go for the first bowkill .congrat's to you on your little buck he make some fine eating for you and your family.

i don't think i will do a shoulder mount on him, but i was thinking about doing a skull mount on a plaque with my arrow. thanks for all of the positive comments.

Well you look like someone just stole your bow, and i hope you have a big garbage can to gut that critter in, it might help to leave the entrails in the woods for the other critters to eat on, congrats..................now its time for a big one!!:D

Nothing wrong with that buck, little, big, he's still a great deer. It makes it even better that he's yours with the stick and string. As said before, the only thing you really needed to do was smile. :) Congrats!

Congrats... I'm still waiting to sling an arrow at one and actually hit a deer. That deer looks like it will be alot of meat in the freezer, afterall, "the meat is the real trophy. The antlers are a bonus." Got that quote off of Realtree Roadtrips.

Good job!! , i can remember taking my first buck with a bow a couple years ago, it was quite an adrenaline rush, i had been out to many 3d shoots prior to the opener so i had gotten lots of practice in, but anyway one morning i came across a little forky about 35 yards away, now the moment comes alive ,i drew back and let er' fly ,i saw where the arrow passed through , i waited for a brief moment and all off a sudden i experienced one heck of a head rush, i thought my head was exploding, i went in found my arrow stuck in an old rotting log then i looked to the right of me and noticed a trail of blood ,it was as though a trail of red paint had been poured over the ground so i followed it for about 45 to 50 yards and there was my first buck (forked velvet horn) taken with a bow lying there motionless, now i have taken deer with a gun but never have i experienced that kind of a rush as shooting one with a bow.
