Gone for good? I scared him.

I was still hunting the other evening, walking ever so slowly through a natural funnel. I saw a couple of rubs that hadn't been there the night before. So I slowly advance. All of the sudden, he's right there. I started shaking and couldn't draw my bow. Finally, he edged behind some brush. I drew. I lined it up, released, and the string slapped my coat. He was gone. He never saw me. He just took off because of the shot, and the arrow hitting the tree next to him. I'm definitely getting an armguard. Do you think that would help slim down the sleeve of my coat? Also do you think I scared him out of the area? It is a staging area between a cornfield and thick river bottoms.

I doubt you scared him away. You just gave him a little education though.

One trick i use when i am wearin bulky coats is to just get a brown/ gray sock or sumtimes even panty hose...just slip it on ur arm that holds the bow

He will be more weary, but I doubt you scared him off. The biggest buck I ever killed came back to the same stand the day after I shot at him and missed.

This is why you are supposed to practice with the clothes you will be hunting in. I think you will see him again.
