Cold Weather Clothing Recommendations
I am in need of some cold weather hunting cloths. Looking for parka/jacket and bibs.
What are you guys wearing?? I have ordered 2 different sets from Cabelas. First was the silent suede wiht dryplus lining. Man, I tried them on and started walking. They went swish, swish, swish with every step. Too Noisey. Next, I just got a set of the Cabelas outfitter wool with dryplus. Same thing. Is it the Dryplus lining that makes so much noise? I am getting tired of ordering 'silent' hunting clothes only to have to send them back. Thanks for the responses |
RE: Cold Weather Clothing Recommendations
I have Gamehide Bibs with matching coat. I love 'em! I stay very warm in this gear and it's very quiet. I have no problems with this material making noise when I draw my bow or making slight movements. Good Stuff :D C.H.

RE: Cold Weather Clothing Recommendations
I have the Rocky Scent IQ clothing and used them last year and getting them ready for this year. They keep me warm throughout the whole season. I wear nothing but the pants and a t shirt with the jacket and in real cold weather I put on a long sleeve shirt, t shirt and then my Rocky Scent IQ jacket with just the pants and I am always good to go.

I wear Redhead silent hide insulated coveralls in the cold. They are very warm and retain most of the heat. Also they really are pretty quiet.

I have the Cabelas Revolution Fleece pullover and pants with Dryplus and Thinsultate, they are a little swishy but not too bad. I think it is the Dry Plus that makes the noise. I am willing to deal with the sounds that my set makes, last year was the first rifle season in a long time that i was comfortable, got a deer too so it must not have been too loud.

RE: Cold Weather Clothing Recommendations
I bought the Cabela's Revolution Fleece parka and bibs after the season last year. Got the set for about half price. I haven't used it bowhunting yet, so I can't be of much help there. I did wear the parka once last year while on a small game hunt. I was really impressed with the parka. Lots of pockets, very comfortable, all around good jacket. I did notice a little noise with it also, but it wasn't too bad...I doubt it's enough to create a problem. I wish the weather would cool off enough so I can put it through a real test. Sounds like this weekend will be cooler so I may have a report for you next week.

RE: Cold Weather Clothing Recommendations
I bought some remington bibs and a parka at walmart for about $200 total. It is realtree hardwoods green HD. I am really satisfied with these bibs. No busted zippers after about 10 weeks of use. VERY WARM. It is fully waterproof and has a zip out liner in the jacket. Lots of pockets. It also has a hide away hood. I have never got cold in these bibs, even when hunting in January at about 15 degrees plus windchill. Very good bibs and parka. I highly recommend these products. The only thing I dont like about them is a little too much bulk in the arms, although the warmness makes up for it. I just wear an armguard to keep my left arm slimmed down. Good Luck

RE: Cold Weather Clothing Recommendations
I have the Columbia Wool bibs and jacket. It doesn't get any quieter from what I can tell and when worn with nothing but neoprene long underwear and a wool sweater underneath I stay nice and toasty. Cabelas also has the Columbia wool but I got mine at Sheels.
