THIS IS INSANE!

Every weekend I finally get out of school and get a chance to go bowhunting. Every weekend, something screws up my hunt. Last weekend I only had two arrows since my pro shop decided I should have to wait 13 days to get my arrows back. I told them I wanted two green and one white vane. I also wanted a hard helical. Well he 1/2 @$$ed the job and read the top of the tag. He put the right color vanes on, but he forgot the helical. I had to drive home and grab some more vanes and drive all the way back. (I put a little pressure on the gas causing it to screw up his gravel parking lot.[:-]) I still don't have my arrows.

I just got everything I needed packed and ready to go for tomorrow. I turn on the news and see some %&^ $@#^ tropical storm coming right for me! I have a feeling this will screw up my weekend hunt.

Sorry to ramble but I'm kinda mad![:@]

13 DAYS! What's up with that? I probably wouldn't have spun out his parking lot though. It's like complaining about food service before you get your meal; you never know what they'll do to it before you get it. He may remember you forever and crap on all your archery needs.[:@]

No he made it into a little joke. He said you must have a heavy petal. I told him I was wearing steel toed boots. This shop askes you for your phone number. I have left things up there 5 times and have yet to get a call!

That sucks zak. I haven't heard about another tropical storm expected to hit the coast. Perhaps I should watch more television. Anyways, the last few days I managed to get out and in my stand the wind has been crazy. Switching back and forth with kind of sucks. Though the cold front is starting to come in and that's a good thing.

Zak.
If he screwed up the job why did you have to go home to get more vanes?

If I was you I would get an AEF and do your own arrows it works out cheaper in the long run.

As for your luck then join the club our season opened last Saturday I work Sat and Sun so I head to the lease 194 miles 1 way after work Sunday night get down there a bit after 2am, 3am it starts to rain and poured rain all day Monday. I did not even unpack the bow.

Hope it gets better for ya;)

Your shop sounds like a place I go to here in town. Everytime I order new arrows they take my number and say they'll call everytime but it never fails about a week or so later I have to go in there and ask if they're ready and ofcourse they're just laying back on his work bench with a note saying to call me.

Your Lucky your shop even does them (custom arrows) during bow season. My shop posts a sign in January that no custom arrows will be made after August 31. Not a problem for me as I make my own. You can always purchase pre-made arrows though any time of year.

With the price of gas and the cost of your time, order an Arizona EZ fletcher and do them at home yourself any way you like them.

Zak!

Don't fret about it ,it only takes one arrow and one hunt to possibly get your deer .It's a long season so I'm sure you'll get lot's of time to fulfill your tag. Good luck your day's coming .

Sorry to hear that man. Dont you hate that feeling that something always screws up "your" hunt. It never seems to do it to anyone else. I know how ya feel. Just remember, it all happens for a reason!! It might be setting you up for the buck of a lifetime!! wooot!!

i had a similar situation this year. my pro shop guy did my arrows how i wanted them but he just plopped the glue on there for the vanes and not even letting them dry rubber banded them together and then gave them to me! well i said that this isnt acceptable and he just told me to pull them apart and i told him to do it so he did and ripped a couple fletchings off. and told me o well u can just glue those back on!! i was mad! i just walked out and will never go there again. now i go to a archery place near i hunt.

Yea I also had a situation with a bow shop. Took my arrows in and told them I needed to get them re fletched. I shot a league there ever wed. so they had a week before I was back to pick them up. Well I ended up shooting 3 weeks having to go back and ask for my arrows each night that were of course not done.

Needless to say, I bought my own fletcher and said screw them.

RE: THIS IS INSANE!

I'm beginning to think that getting arrows fletched is one of the biggest pains in the arses. There are 3 pro shops in the area. While all of them claim to custom fletch, one won't do anything but straight (not even offset). The other one did my last set of aluminum arrows and fletched feathers on there for me. I asked for offset, I got straight. He asked if it really mattered.

There is one pro shop left in the area, and they seem to be really good, but like other's have said, they have a posted wait time during bow season. I think it's 7 days. From what I hear, it usually only takes them a day or two, but they try to be upfront about the fact that they are busy. Also, they will always stop fletching someone's arrows to help you when you go in there. THey feel that customer service is important. However, I've heard some stories that make me not want to take arrows there too.

Looks like if you want something done right, you have to do it yourself! I'm gonna order a fletcher for next season ;)

zak123 this may not help now but it might be a good idea to invest in a good fletcher and start fletching your own arrows. That way you know there right ever time and you don`t have to depend on any one else?[&:]

From what you've said, it sounds like a good idea.

Good luck!!!

Zak, it's been a tough year for you sofar, no doubt about that but I'd stay positive. By the time the rut kicks in the tropical storm season will have passed and the 13 day wait for arrows will have past and you luck can only go one way from here.;)

I find bowhunting takes a lot of perserverance. Keep at it hard, stay positive and you're luck will change.
