New to the forums...

Well, just thought I would introduce myself since I am new to the forums. Seems like there is a wealth of information here and I look forward to being part of the community.

Welcome!:) You will learn a ton of information from this site. If I hadn't found this site, I would be lost. I would probably sit this season out.

RE: New to the forums...

I happened to come across the site searching for some information. Pretty much been through all the threads and decided it would be nice to register as I would be sticking around for awhile. I have thought about sitting bow season out this year as I didn't get a chance to scout. However, I managed to grab my climbing stand from my friend's house and set it up on a trail on the corner of a field. That was Sunday and I had my face mask off and was about to let down my bow when I heard a noise in the field on my right. It was a doe. After a brief staredown and some stomping she started eating again. By this time I managed to get my release back on and was about to stand to get a shot when another doe stepped out. She new right away something was up and was immediately staring me down with her nose in the air the whole time. Needless to say, she walked back in the woods as did the other one. I'm positive I spooked the first one as I was moving to lower my bow, but they never seemed to detect my scent and I was using the homemade brew recipe. Seems this works quite well. I still plan to sell the Martin Magnum bow that I am using since I will definately be picking up a new BowTech sometime next year as well as a new Summit climbing stand. The Martin is a pretty nice bow for the money, it's clocked at 248fps which isn't bad at all. Anyways, I have looked around and haven't found a tree that would give me decent cover and not be in the open, so I might just wait until gun season and start over next year with bowhunting. Either way, I plan to stay active on the forums.

Just realized you are in Ocean Springs. I'm in Brookhaven, about an hour drive from Jackson. Good to see a fellow Mississipian around.
