Spotted A MONSTER

Hey all...just wanted to post this because I am really psyched up about bowhunting with my friend at his grandpa's place. This place consists of about 200 acres, and about 160 is planted in corn or beans. It is right on the border of a forest preserve. The forest preserve is absolutely FULL of deer. A deer is hit on his grandpa's road about once a week. Yesterday, we saw what we think may be a world class deer. I'm not real sure about measurements, but I will just compare. We were sitting in a stand doing a little scouting. We cut up some apples and spread them out in front of the stand. Right at about dark, he came out. This deer was MASSIVE. He had a lot of points, but looked like his rack was basically ten main points. The deer could not fit down the trail, and had weeds and grass hanging from his rack. The buck was a typical as much as I could tell. His G1s and G2s were at least as long as my forearm(elboy to tip of fingers) so probably about 20+ inches. They were also palmated about three inches. The base of his antlers are as big around as a soda can and he had double brow tines. I know he had a few irregular points, but it was getting dark. The spread was somewhere between 22 and 25 inches, bigger than any of the deer that he has on the wall. This is the biggest deer I have ever seen, so please wish me luck over here in IL.
P.S. My friend thinks he had an encounter with this buck last year, but the buck was an 8 point frame. The buck came up and licked the flag he had set at 20 yards, and my friend had never killed a deer at this time. He said that he was too shakey to even draw his bow and hold steady even after about 5 tries.

Wow, I would say that is a big buck, considering that if this thing was that big, you are talking about a 10 point typical frame that is going towards 300"! Yep, sounds like a good one :eek:

I am hoping you are not planning on hunting over the apples .... if you are PLEASE read your Illinois Hunting Digest.

. We cut up some apples and spread them out in front of the stand.
A word of warning....... It is illegal to feed wild deer in the state of Illinois.... and it is illegal to hunt over bait in the state of Illinois.... a stand is considered baited when there is bait present and for 10 days after the removal of the bait..... PLEASE refer to your hunting digest for exact wording .... you dont want a ticket and fines and the possible loss of your hunting liscience if you are caught.

No, We were SCOUTING OVER APPLES! I would never poach. We aren't going to hunt it until the rut. I guess another guy saw a buck this big on the other side of the river, but it had double drop tines. Sounds like a good year in IL for me hopefully! Good luck to everyone else:)
