BAD OPPENING WEEKEND
 

1 It all started friday night I needed to run out and check my feeder (been having problems with it ) to make sure it was feeding good for the next morning I get 100 yrds away from my feeder and there is something there eating, damn hogs I have been hunting this spot for 2 yrs and never had any hogs on it so i ran back to the truck grab my bow get to 25 yrds and smack him a good one he jumps lets out a hollar and takes off so I call my budddy to come help me look it is getting dark fast well 3 hrs later no hog and im out a arrow and broadhead and I was lookin forward to some sausage. I didnt know skunks could climb trees that was kinda wierd

2 sat morning sweet Im ready its a little colder than it was saposed to be but Im pumped so it dont matter well at 7:15 here she comes walks right in front of me ( im shakin a little from the fever) at about 25 yrds full broadside and zoom right over her back. she runs about 20 yrds and looks around like what the heck was that and trots off..

3 sat afternoon go to my buddys spot on the river 3 hrs and nothing and then 5 does in single file line come by at 40 yds no good shot im not shootin 40 yet maybe next year about 20 min later i here a terrible crash in the woods up twards my buddys stand here he comes with a big grin
he shoots old school stick bows and makes fun of my "training wheels" so we went and found his doe about 50 yrds into the thick stuff, heavy old girl

4 sunday morning skunked didnt see anything

5 sunday afternoon back to the river watched a fawn most of the afternoon she came in 4 or five differnt times I named her sweetpea well the last time she came in she was following 7 turkeys a couple decent toms well it was getting late so i drew on this tom and whack hit him hard he jumped to his feet and flew off strait into this huge briar patchwe looked for 2 hrs the best we could without getting to stuck into it no luck so I guess It was not my weekend

Its one thing to shoot and miss but it really chaps my hide when i hit an animal and then i cant find it thats the worst

Ya highcountry i know what ya mean the guys on here dont take kindly to wounding animals.Sorry to here you had such a bad weekend

why would it be pleasant did I put a smiley face on it or joke about it
no it pi$$es me off I have never not been able to locate my animals before

Hey guys...before anyone pounces.....ease up!

This board is here to share our experiences with one another. He had a bad day with a bad outcome...nothing more nothing less.

If you've hunted long enough than it's happened to you...if it hasn't than keep at it and it will. It's all part of the game.

Zuki, if you tried to recover your animal to the best of your abilities thats all you can do and you can hold your head up. No one's perfect.

Zuk i wasnt rying to bust your Ba!!z at all i know things happen I was just mentioning that there are some folks on here that will not be so kind for 1 reason or another please dont take my comment bad it wasnt intended that way

might i suggest a different broadhead? Two animals and no luck? Are you waiting long enough after the shot? Maybe your aim is off? Check yourself and your rig, get back to the range and maybe change broad heads.

I was wondering about my broad heads they are mechanicals I think it is time to go to fixed blades
