Mathews Black Max2
 

I did a search on the Black Max2 with not much info.

Do many of you hunt with the Black Max2 or bows like it? What's the down side to a fast bow like this. I've owned a legacy for 3 years and would like a second bow. I'm also thinking about buying a custom bow that is the same speed as the Black Max2. Any insight would help.

The Black Max 2 is a very short brace height bow (5.5").. which makes it very critical as far as hunting bows are concerned. I used to shoot a Mathews Zmax which was the Black Max's predesessor. I shot it very well when I was shooting it every day.. but that's what it takes for a bow like this. I personally wouldn't use a bow like this for hunting. I'd stick w/ something w/ at least 7" brace height.

Doesn't the Black Max 2 shoot 330fps.

If you want speed why the facination with Mathews. Mathews does make a great bow, but if you want speed go with a Bowtech.

The following Bowtech bows all shoot as fast or faster, have more brace height, and less shock.

I hunt with the Bowtech Extreme VFT and I don't notice any down sides. It is fast has little or no shock, quiet, acurrate (I shoot a paper plate @ 80yrds). I can't think of any thing bad about it.

THe Black Max 2 however has a short brace height, you would have problems with clothing in the way when it got cold. And it has a bit of hand shock to it.
