Uses for broken arrows
Anybody got any tips or usefull ideas for broken arrow. I got one im waiting to try. I took 4 cracked carbons and sawed them each up into 4 pieces about 7" long. I put them in a black sock and tied it shut. Homemade rattling bag that sounds just as good as the ones in the store. And it finally gave me a use for some of the broken arrows i have. This is my first post here, been reading for a long time and finally joined. My season starts in less than 12 hours and I got the day off work. Good luck to everyone whos seasons start tomorrow and saturday.

RE: Uses for broken arrows
You can slide an arrow with out an insert over your truck antenna if your country enough to sport it:)
I have also used a broken arrow, the fletched end cut it to length and slid it over an ink pen and glued it in place. Thats about all I have done with them. |
RE: Uses for broken arrows
You can use the broken arrow for a scent stick as well.If the nock end is good then take a gun cleaning swab, saturate it with your favourite scent, stick it in the nock and place accordinly:)

RE: Uses for broken arrows
I use mine to mark yardages when practicing and pound them in the ground so i can move my 3-d to different locations, works pretty good too.

RE: Uses for broken arrows
i collect aluminium arrows from the 3-d ranges when i go and then make wind chimes out of them

welcome aboard triton.
Hmmm - a rattle bag you say ? I'll have to bust a few more before I do that. I like buckeye's pen idea .... gonna try that right now. |

Add different woods, corn cobs or the like to make strikers for turkey calls ie, slate and glass friction calls.
Decorate your Christmas tree. Don't laugh, I add arrows to my tree every year and get very nice compliments. |

I also do the idea with the pen works out great.sometimes i will stick them in the corner of a paper target to stick to a hey bail instead of using thumbtacks.

RE: Uses for broken arrows
i've had a couple sections of my ground blind poles break due to high wind and i took the chord out, cut my broken arrows to the size of the pole sections, and replaced them so my blind still sets up right. the carbon arrow sections really bend nicely. we don't have to worry about theft out here - knock on wood - and the latch on our basement door, which is outside by where we park, always has a broken arrow through it.

RE: Uses for broken arrows
I cut them down and use them as turkey decoy stakes. I'm always dropping or losing my stakes so using broken arrows is a cheap alternative for an expensive habit.

RE: Uses for broken arrows
A cut down piece with the insert still installed makes a handy handle when sharpening broadheads.

Something else you can do with them if you are into precision rifle shooting, you can tie a foot long piece of flourescent marker ribbon to one end and stick the other end in the ground and use them for a wind sock, it does work in telling you which direction the wind is blowing, On my property I also use them as yardage markers for my rifle range. |
