Disheartening stealth cam pic
I hunted a couple of hours this morning before work and on my way out of the woods I grabbed my stealth cam. I only had time to download it and view it (will post it in the moring before I take off on my trip). What I have is a picture od a doe that appears to have the last 3-4 inches of an arrow sticking out of her above her shoulder blade and it would appear to be to far forward to have caught any lung.
The deer looked fine and was feeding in one of my plots when the pic was taken. :([:'(] |

Thats sad...deer are tough creatures though, hopefully she'll recover.

RE: Disheartening stealth cam pic
hey adams you may get a chance to help the old girl out, years ago i killed a decent buck but when he walked in he was acting strange (different fom anything i had ever seen), i shot him in rifle season and from his ribcage bag he was skinny as a rail, rolled him over and he had a piece of a shaft sticking out of his hip, well you know the story on the meat, i just figured i did this ole dude a favor, which is why when i get around people that want to bow hunt i try to stress the importance of practice and taking good shots, i was talking to a guy one day at a pro shop 2 weeks before the opening of our archery season and i said if you can't hit something the size of that sign on that wall (6" round) from here you dont need to be in the woods, he said that little sign, thats 50 yds from here, i showed him it was actually less than 30, he asked if i could hit it, we went outside to the range and i shot a few for him, he just said yep i need to practice, you owe it to the animal to make good shots.

That is ashame Adams, maybe you can harvest her this year.

RE: Disheartening stealth cam pic
bummer... hope that she turns out ok. We had a pic last year of a small 4 pointer with and arrow stuck in it's back just below the spine, haven't seen it since though.

RE: Disheartening stealth cam pic
That sucks! That pic may be best left off the internet entirely.[&:]

RE: Disheartening stealth cam pic
Good thinking!
I hope you don't post the pic as we believe you and can visualize what it looks like. Lets not put stuff out there like that for some animal boob to exploit. Do you think it was shot this year? If the arrow didn't hit anything vital it may recover. |
RE: Disheartening stealth cam pic
I do not know the laws where you are but where I am from we came across a situation close to yours and we went to our local conservation office/game warden and told him/showed him pictures and he gave us written permission to harvest the deer without using a tag up alls we had to do is give the deer to them after. I do not know if the deer you seen was suffering but the one we had seen was really skinney and we though it to not have a fair chance at life, who knows if had infection or anything like that.

RE: Disheartening stealth cam pic
Sorry to hear that adams. Good luck finding her. I have a doe on our place that has a messed up front right leg. We have been watching her all summer. I am hoping she will walk out in front of me sometime. I really don't think she will make it thru the winter if we get a lot of snow. I hope we both are able to find these wounded deer. Always said to see.[:o]
