RE: what's your worst target MISS?
When I was 15 I got my first bow. I didnt have a clue what I was doing and nobody to teach me so I setup 2 haybails about 20 yards away and fired away. The first shot went high. WWAAAAy HIgh. But my Moms 1979 Oldsmobile stopped it. I think I still have the pic of the arrow sticking out of the door. My mom drove around for a week with that arrow stuck in the door to show everyone my new hobby. (Oh yea, she was very pissed)

RE: what's your worst target MISS?
I don't have a story of my own (Me Miss??) But I have seen some good ones.
1) My brother-in-law comes over to sight in his new crossbow (legal in Ohio). I just finished a new shed on the back of my property. My only instruction was. "Don't hit my shed!" First arrow..you guessed it right into the side of my shed. 2) My uncle practicing in his basement shot his furnace. The repair man chuckled the whole time, as he collected his $75 an hour. 3) My dad moved into a new house. Proud that he now had a basement big enough to practice in, he got out his bow and proceeded to shoot through a brand new can of paint. Mom was thrilled with that one! 4) my buddy & Iwent to a local indoor range. They had jimmie rigged this hair dryer so that a ping pong ball would float on air and we were seeing who could hit this moving ball from 20 yards. It was a nice challenge until my buddy shot the hair dryer. Ended that real quick. |
RE: what's your worst target MISS?
1. One year my brother had a new hunter out with us on the first shoot. My release had rusted slightly, and was making me pull to the right. Here I was trying to show off how good I was to the newcomer, and I'm missing by yards at 20 yards. A little wd-40 fixed that.
2. My first experience with back tension methods. As it turns out, my last as well. 3. When my dad retired, us boys bought him a decked out crossbow for a gift (he has burcites very bad). We had yet to get the scope, but decided to try it out anyway. After watching my bro miss high by a mile, he asked me if I wanted to try. I swear, I aimed way low. Needless to say, dad got the entire setup, complete with 11 bolts. The Trashcanman |
