Getting to your stand....

So, how do you get to your stand?

Do you
A) nock an arrow and still hunt to your stand?
B) sneak quickly and as quietly as possible with arrow nocked?
C) sneak quickly and quietly but without an arrow nocked?
D) all out haul a$$ to your stand and not worry much about what's goin on around you?

I am a C. I try to be quiet but getting up in my stand and settled is my mission. I don't bother to nock an arrow (it has caused be to miss an opportunity or two on walking deer) I just sneak as quickly and quietly as I can. I feel my odds are in my favor when I'm on stand and want to spend as much time as possible actually in my stand.

I'm an A in the daylight, going in for an afternoon or evening hunt. I'm a C in the early morning darkness. I guess I don't like the idea of tripping on something and falling on a broadhead:).

I am a C in the morning also, and a A in the afternoon.

You forgot one...

E. Trip, stumble, bang and cuss your way through the woods as you and your climbing stand hit or get caught on every branch, trunk, or sapling that is 6' or less off the ground. :D[:@][&:]

I'm definitely 'E', with no arrow nocked. I'm clumsy, but not suicidal. :D

Depends on where I am hunting and who I am with. If there is a possibility of sneaking up a deer on the way in, I'll nock an arrow and look as I go, just faster than still hunting. If I am with someone, I'll keep the arrow in the quiver. I don't want to stick anyone. If the deer aren't going to be anywhere where I'm walking, I'll get to and up the tree as fast as I can.

You forgot:

F.) Ride 4wheeler in, right up to your tree. Why walk and sweat?

LOL [8D]

I'm C most times, unless it's daylight and windy...then I still hunt my way.

Ah, I inetntionally forgot this one;) This is the world wide web, now everyone knows your secret:D

Yup, I forgot that one and it's often a good method. If the deer are use to 4 wheelers that is a stealthy way to get to your stand without laying down any scent.

I am a C. in both the morning and afternoon. I figure if i see a deer in the afternoon i can knock an arrow quickly enough. Being quiet is the key though. I agree with adams that i feel i need to spend as much time in the stand as possible.

Once I am out of my truck I am hunting. Going to the blind early in the morning I need to watch for hogs so I have a arrow ready to go.

C & D I have spots that you just get to right away because the deer come through like clock work. Other areas I have to sneek in because the deer are always there. A lot of times I'm running them off, only to have them come back around as I'm securing my climber at the top.

A-usually when entering the woods during the daylight hours

B-rarely- quickly usually isn't worth nocking an arrow for, unless your good at shooting a deer on the run[8D] besides, i want to stick a deer, not myself

C-always, before daylight, but at a decent pace, not getting exhausted or too sweated up

D-never, too noisy, too hot, and just plain not worth blowing a good day in the woods. unless your only going to get out of the house, and catch some z's in peace.:D
