Practice causes pain?

Well fellas I have been shooting alot lately but always with a long sleave shirt on! I went to a shot this morning and I had a short sleaved shirt on and I kept getting hit about three inches above my wrist from the string when I released. I was shooting with some new guys and the one guy suggested to me that my draw may be too long. He stated that my hold arm should be somewhat bent instead of straight. I got to thinking that it sounds plausable. Is there any truth to that fact? I guess I was lucky while wearing the long sleaved shirts and it is way to close be setting up a new style. I still shot very well but I am somewhat concerned! It feels comfortable and is it that major of a problem that may creep up on me and cause any problems with my bow?

The guys are probably right. I'd also figure that your draw-length is too long.

Shorten it up some. Just to know, how long is it set at right now?

You might look into an armpad also...keeps you from stining your arm, and also can tuck sleeves (from long-sleeve shirts) outta the way of your string.

draw length too long. gripping the bow too tight, should have a loose grip. locking your elbow, arm should be slightly bent, this can be achieved by rotating your hand on the grip, hold your arm in front of you, bend your wrist and your forearm and elbow should move out. just a few things that could be going on, should still hit with long sleeves though, I dont get that part.

You are "hyper-extending" your elbow. Grip the bow with your thumb and top two finders. Point the nuckle of your pointer finger at the target. This will help you keep a very slightly bent arm. No more ouch.

Also check your stance. Point your toes toward the target some.

Well thank you and I will try them out again this evening when I go to another quick shot!
