Refletching wrapped shafts ?
If I use the EZwraps on my arrows and have to replace a damaged feather, will I end up replacing the wrap and all 3 feathers, or is it possible to remove a feather without messing up the wrap?
If I'll have to re-do the whole thing every time a feather gets roughed up, I may just skip the wraps all together. |
RE: Refletching wrapped shafts ?
You'll have to remove the wrap and all three vanes. The wrap isn't durable enough to pull the vanes from off it.

RE: Refletching wrapped shafts ?
Like shadow ace said, you will have to take the wrap off and refletch all three. But one benefit in this is that you will do much less scraping of glue if you use wraps, if you even have to do any at all. Most of the time with the wraps I make I don't have to scrape glue at all. I just wipe the shafts down with 90% alcohol and re-wrap and fletch.

RE: Refletching wrapped shafts ?
Now THAT'S an interesting angle.
I hadn't thought of less scraping and risking damage to carbon shafts in the process. I was only looking at all of the extra feathers I'd be throwing away. There would be more labor with having to refletch the whole arrow, but it shouldn't take long with the minimal prep time. Hmm, something to think about. Thanks guys! |
