Comical Hunt Last Night
My brother and I set off yesterday evening to bow hunt. We hunt about 400 yrds apart on opposite sides of a soybean field. We both get into the stand about 6:00 and get set. After we are settled, I call him on the 2 way radio to tellhim about the fresh deer tracks and one set of hog tracks I saw. We chatted a couple of minutes and then got quiet. ABout 30 seconds later I hear a sound coming behind me. I look over my shoulder, and low and behold this hog is coming right down my trail I walked in on. He walked straight to the base of my ladder sticks and sniffed. He then preceeded to stick his nose into the brown paper bag of corn I brought to put out. I then tried to get a shot but couldn't because he was straight under me. Soon after he gave me a shot about 5 yrds away. As i Drew back he moved into a small thicket. As I watched him, I looked up, and there was a doe standing there watching and ran off. I called my borther on the radio and told him everything that was happening. He couldn't believe it. We talked for about 5 minutes. No more sign of the hog. Next thing I know, my brother(first year bowhunting) calls me on the radio and says that the hog is coming in behind him. The hog walked straight under his tree and then turned and walked off without presenting a shot. Unbelievable. The funniest thing was to watch the hog stick his nose into my bag full of corn straight below me.:D

RE: Comical Hunt Last Night
On the next hunt bring a deep see fishing pole and see if you can't hook the hog:eek:. I'm just kidding (a little humor);)
These are the types of things that keep us all comin back for more. Nature is aweful funny and you never seem to have seen it all. Just when you thought you had seen it all, something of this nature happens. Who knows, he may be back soon.... |
RE: Comical Hunt Last Night
Reminds me of the time I had a cow follow me into the woods and lay down at the base of the tree I was in waiting for me to climb down, and follow me out. It's crazy what you see in the woods.
But, I dont know what state you are from, but you may want to check the regs about using twoway radio'd. I think in my state you cannot use radio's to discuss animal movement. But I may be wrong. |
