SCENT QUESTION-FARMLAND BUCKS

I have a question guys.........

A lot of us swear by the latest and greatest scent suits, sprays, etc.... however I know plenty of guys thast just hunt..... these guys are all hunting deer that live in areas very close to farm houses, crops etc.... where Im assuming deer get used to human scent to a certain degree..... THATS my question - how much do you think deer living in small woodlots split by crops, with rows of houses nearby get used to human scent ?

I have never seen a deer actually like it. Maby tolerate a week scent to a degree.

Deer get used to all kinds of things. Equipment running, other farm vehicles, you name it. It's when there's a change in the normal routine that deer will become alert.

A hunter tends to leave a different scent pattern than a farmer going about his business. A hunter's scent can be more concentrated in an area, or may be in an area that humans do not normally go. Either will tip off deer that something is up.

The more you take care of your scent, the greater your chances of not spooking the deer. They may smell you, even after you leave the woods, but if your scent has been minimized by hygene, and additional clothes or other scent control products, sprays, etc., the deer may be bothered.

Bottom line is deer do "understand" that people can represent a threat.

They tolerate the human scent that they are used too. I think if they smell joe neighbor out in his yard while they are in the woods, they don't care. If they came across a person's scent out in thier woods where they don't expect it...high alert.
I also wonder if they don't pay attention to the farmers scent becuase they smell him every day. Put another persons(hunter) scent out there and they become suspicious.

Thats exactly right. Deer know exactly what their safe zone is when it comes to people, equipment or whatever...and they won't vary from that safe zone.....take my grandmother and her husband....he can hand feed many bucks that live in his area...but no one, and I mean no one else can even be outside the house when it happens....I even tried to go out with him, hanging right on his side and the deer turned inside out to get out of the area.....but him alone, they come right in.....
