Fun 1st evening of MN opener
Got out at my stand late tonight. (18:30) Around sunset I had a little basket 6pt come in off the alpha field and start feeding in the river bottum. I planted a small area of Full Draw 2 weeks ago and he came right to it and nibble a little. I also put out some Trails end 507 right by it in those stick in the ground pop up sent wicks because the wind was swirling a bit and when he caught wind of that he put is noise right in it. Then he left it and went back to the Full draw, nibbled and then rubbed the tree a little, then right back the 507 and he licked it. It was fun to watch because his tail was wagging alot like when a dog is excited. He hung out by me at 10 steps from my tree stand for about 15 minutes. Should of had my camcorder.

Very cool! I had an experience sort of like that the evening of opening day here. I was in a brush blind on a corner of an alfalfa field with an apple tree about 20 yards in front of me. At about 7:30 I had a doe and two fawns pop out and start feeding, all the while looking back across the fence towards the apple tree. About 10 minutes later a spike hops the fence and feeds towards me until he was about 10 feet from me. He was so close I could hear him chewing on the apples that were near me!
So far this season I have seen more deer total than I did in the past 5 years rifle hunting. Archery is addicting.

Glad to see you had some action! My MN opener was with my son but in my ground blind. It was a fun morning but we didn't see any deer. We'll get them next time!
Good Luck!

I went out last night too, but didnt see a deer. I am thinking that there probably isnt any deer around my hunting spot right now. I hunt just south of Austin, and we had some really bad flooding last week. My ladder stands are about 15 feet off the ground, and when I was sitting in one of them last night, I could look straight across from where I was sitting and I could see all of the weeds and junk in the trees above where I was sitting. Every one of my stands were completly under water, not to mention one of my cameras was too. So, what do you all think, how long will I have to wait before the deer come back? My hunting spot is only about 11 acres, and over half of it had water on it that was at least 15 feet deep.

I had a crappy morning hunt and a pretty good evening hunt. In the morning I had a dog running around the woods on trails. He even stopped by my lick and got his picture taken. The evening hunt I had a doe within 20 yards but couldn't get a shot. I would love an early season doe to replenish the frezer.
