After breaking in my whisker buscuit I need new vanes... how much should I expect to pay per arrow to have vanes put on? I shoot aluminum.

The last time I had mine done I paid $30 to have a dozen arrows completely refletched.

I'm far from an expert, actually a beginner myself, but rather than pay the archery shop to fletch my arrows (and they seemed like it was more of a pain in the tail than it was worth for them), I decided to do my own.

For about $100 (or less) you can set yourself up to do your own ... a fletching tool costs anywhere from $30 - $50, pack of 100 vanes about $20 (you'll need two packs in different colors), and glue $3 - $10.

The fletching tool I got does all 3 vanes at the same time. If you get the style tool that does all three vanes at once, I wouldn't buy the "super glue" type of adhesive - I think it will dry too fast.

Although my shop isn't the most knowledgeable, they do give me free fletching.

If I have 'em done at the pro shop, they cost about $2.00 each. However, I bought a fletching tool and the required accessories and do most of em myself now. The reason I bought it is for when I am not near the shop or at the cottage and I lose some vanes while practicing. I do not want to have to drive for an hour plus to get an arrow repaired. That's valuable hunting/fishing time.

I charge 2.00 and arrow for standard fletch. If customer wants feathers or a more exspensive fletching I charge more to cover my costs.

I bought a Grayling jig a while back, $35.00, Fletchtite $5.00 and I pay $.25 a feather! I bought the Grayling jig so if I only need to change 1 feather. I 'Heard" the 3 way is a PAIN in the arse to do 1 feather. I think you need to do all 3, don't quote me. I actually enjoy fletching my own arrows! Especially when they fly straight!:)

I picked up a Jo-Jan mono fletcher off Evilbay for $33 shipped to my door. I also purchased 300 Duravanes for $24. Bought a tube of Fletch Tite for $3.49 at a local sporting goods store.
