Grunt Calls

Is it to early in the season to grunt?

RE: Grunt Calls

Never too early. I would use short subtle contact grunts.

Damn maybe I should have grunted then. I had I nice 8ptr about 50 yards out from me yesterday... :(

RE: Grunt Calls

Lesson learned.....deer are very vocal animals and bucks will vocalize throughout the year especially when nearing the rut in a sign of dominance and while deciding the pecking order.....I would hesitate grunting at a buck at 50 yards, he'll pinpoint you quickly but as he turned to walk away, you might have very easily pulled him back...after all you must not have got the shot opportunity you wanted anyway so a buck grunt couldn't have hurt....I've called deer in on the opening morning of archery and all season up to the last day...never go in the woods without at least one.

Yeah most definitely well learned. I had it on me just didn't grunt. Thanks for the advice Rob/PA Bowyer!
