Moon effect on game

I never let the moon positons determine when or where I hunt but know it effects my deer sightings. The last couple Drury bros. hunting tapes I watched they always talk about High Pressure and a Rising Moon. Has anyone ever tested this theory? I tried to find an explanation of the rising moon and came up empty. Where can I find more info and a table to show the dates and time of a Rising Moon. Thanks. Jerry

I have Drury's hard cover book on whitetails and they talk about it there too. I am going to try it this year. To determine a rising moon I have been studying my GPS which contains information of the time the moon is up. Still working on it though, will let you know if I find any magic answers.

Jerry

Search for the terms waxing moon.....the period from the new moon to the full moon and waning moon.....from the full moon to the new moon and solunar charts....the game movement charts that are based on the sun and moon.

Good Luck

The moon has a lot to do with deer. Espically breeding. A doe just like a womans cycle is 28 days... full moon every 28 days. Coincidence, I dont think so. The gestation period for a deer is 198 to 200 days average. Fawns are almost always born at the quater moon going into no moon. The reason for this is survival, preadators are not as active during the dark of the moon. You can look at the lunar cycle and go 198 days into the future and predict rut times pretty accurately

akaSharkey has it right. The moon is essential to the deer.
