THIS BOARD IS AWESOME!!!
I just wanted to say , THANKS....
I think that everyone on here is great and I would like to thank everyone for all the INPUT that you've given... I actually have my local proshop upset at me because I come to them with so much knowledge that is upsets them, and they dont like that I "know" more than them.. LOL Thanks for all your Time and Consideration.. Enjoy the woods... Mathewsboy |
RE: THIS BOARD IS AWESOME!!!
Invite your local pro shops to the site. I've actually gone into our local Gander Mountain and quizzed the bow techs and I was disappointed.....so I recommended them to the technical forum here and the next time I went in they thanked me continuously......everyone can learn something all we have to be is open minded. I've learned alot over the many years I've been here. I've been able to teach, learn, grow for and from members here. If you come with an open mind, how can you not have fun and learn.
Of course a special thanks goes out to Todd Graf and the administration of the website/company that is Huntingnet.com Swing by the Bowhunting contest, team 20 thread and thank them personally. |
RE: THIS BOARD IS AWESOME!!!
Sadly enough, most bow shop "techs" are nothing more than college kids working a part time job. Some of them may hunt, some of them may play with archery but 90% are involved in a world of equipment they know very little about. Occassionally you can find someone with experience, usually the private bow shop owner, but still not skilled enough to be considered a true authority.
I noticed this very early in my exposure to archery. I was not compelled to pay someone to service equipment when I could do better myself. It would serve the new archer better if more bow shops trained their people as opposed to handing out name tags. The bottom line is you learn more asking those who live this sport than asking those behind the counter who care nothing about being there than a paycheck. We've all seen the type. The collar up polo shirt. The surfer boy hair-do. Living at home and drivin' Mommies Lexus. Standing there with the dime store speach tellin' some poor newbie about this gotta have bow... all the while you're craving to reach across the counter slap the taste clean outta his mouth. Yessir. Ok... I feel better now. |

RE: THIS BOARD IS AWESOME!!!
I couldn't agree more. You can get years and years of knowledge on this website in a short amount of time. To bad you can't get years and years of experience as fast! ;)
