Hawgs Limited Synthetic Scents
Has anyone used and/or had any success with these scents? I ask in anticipation of checking my artificial scrapes tomorrow morning. Last week I had a couple small, yearling sized tracks in one of my scrapes, and I hope they've conjured up more interest in the past week.
One of my only experiences with the scents ended in seeing the biggest buck of my life. Now it was along an existing scrape line, so I can't be sure if it was the Hawgs or just dumb luck. If you use it, how do you use it and when? I've taken the video's advice and created a few scrapes in different areas about two weeks ago - four weeks from the opener. Thanks for any input.....Fritz |
RE: Hawgs Limited Synthetic Scents
hey fritz, I use the Hawgz and it has worked great for me. I actually start mock scrapes in the springtime and freshen them up every couple of weeks. I talked to Greg Abbas form A-way outdoors TV show and he told me to do this. I shot a 12-pt last year after doing this. The best part is since it is synthetic it never goes bad. Good Luck

Thanks for the info cj. Have you started using it as late as one month before the season and had success with it, or are your experiences strictly from spring to fall?

Just ordered some vanishing hunter from cabelas. I don't really care for the lures, but I have heard the scent killer works great.

RE: Hawgs Limited Synthetic Scents
I got a little basket rack seven pointer two years ago over an mock scrape I had made with it. he was walking along minding his own business until he came across my drag line, then followed it 10 yards to my scrape when I poked him. Last year, though, I had a 3 pointer spook at it. Could have been me, though. Maybe he smelled me around the scrape because he was interested in the drag line, just like the other buck. The does have not paid much attention to it, one way or the other.

RE: Hawgs Limited Synthetic Scents
I started a few scraps earlier this year (April) and havn't touched them since. I was supprised and amazed at how quickly the deer took them over. A couple of the scrapes were what I would call "traditional" as they were left over from last year. Everyone of the I scented the deer shoed great responce to. I also made a couple of new scrapes. The one I made on the edge of a swamp literaly has a cow path to it coming from the swamp.
I used all I had back in April and I plan to pick up another 8oz bottle in the next couple of weeks. I am a beliver in the BF Synthetics. I've never in the past had luck with scents but am very optimistic to see what this season brings. Here's a link to my original post on the subject. http://forum.hunting.net/asppg/tm.as...crapes򗺱 |

I have never been one to use or believe in scents. After reading alot of positive threads on this site a couple of years ago I gave it a try.I never tried the mock scrapes but the scent itself would hold the deers atention and allow me to get a better shot.I saw lots of positve responces from their products.

RE: Hawgs Limited Synthetic Scents
Fritz,
I am pretty good friends with Kevin Kreh, even though our friendship is only via telephone conversations and email I have spent a lot of time visiting with Kevin and using his products over the past 7 years. I have had great successes with Hawgs Vanishing hunter and scent products. Several of my bucks over the past 7 years have responded positively to the products, from mock rubs in early season of Sept to mock scrapes and even drag rags with rut formula in Oct, and November. Right now in early season I have mock rubs set below all of my stand sites, If nothing else the forhead gland scent serves as a pretty decent cover scent. I often mist the air into bedding areas with the forehead gland scent and doctor licking branches on every trip to a stand... As for the urines (mock scrapes) I like how they work this time of year and especially once october rolls around and bucks start hitting the scrapes even more aggressively. The Buckfever RUT formula works great for cover scent, mock scrapes and even decoys. I like it on a small buck decoy with a rattling and grunting scenario. If you make mock scrapes I suggest you follow Hawgs limited application process in regards to being clean and scent free while creating the scrapes... goodluck since 98 I have killed at least 1 buck every year some years two all of which I have at least incorperated the Vanishing hunter. Most of the time I incoperate at least one of his scent products in every hunting set up. By no means is any scent product a CURE all..they arent but if used right I think they can help a bow hunter stack the odds in his favor even more. Good luck.. Troy Troy aka shed |

Thanks for all the input on these products! I'll be sure and use this thread to report the progress, if any, on my scrapes are tomorrow or Sunday.

RE: Hawgs Limited Synthetic Scents
I had several synthetic scrapes out last year with hawgs. They were it heavy early, but then went dry. However, I did have several buck sightings around my synthetic setups. I had a buddy to use Hawgs close to the same area, with no sign of deer ever coming back too it, so i guess there may be a little luck that has to tie in there somewhere.
