What type of tree..........??

I am not very good at tree identification.
Can someone tell me what tree produces these types of acorns? There are boatloads of them around my stand sight and there is a lot of deer evidence around. Is it from a White Oak?

The body of the acorn measures 15/16" X 11/16".

My guess is that it's not a white oak. All the white oak acorns I've seen are much smaller. It's probably a black or red oak acorn. Also check the tree bark. White oaks have a white/gray loose bark and black oak has a brown/black bark. At least that's the way is is here in WV.

I hate to disagree with y'all but that looks like a white oak to me. I have them dropping all over my lease right now and I know they are white oaks. Perhaps they look different in different parts of the country?

If the leafs are lobed, rounded, it's a white oak. If the leafs are oval with spines on the edges it's a saw oak. That acorn looks like a saw oak acorn to me. Saw Oak is an Asian imported tree. Was brought to US because it grows fast and produces a mast crop in 5 years as compared to 20 for a white oak. Deer and turkeys and any animal that will eat an acorn, will eat a saw oak acorn.
Now where is this tree at and do ya need any help with this hunt???
