Unscented Hairspray for Feathers?
I was told to use Unscented Hairspray for Feathers.. I was looking for some water proof feather powder or spray , but cant find any of it, unless I order it...
some guy told me to use Hairspray.. Has anyone used this method? I would think that it would melt away when it got wet... Just like a womans hair does when it gets wet with that Sh*t in there.... |
RE: Unscented Hairspray for Feathers?
Just use Camp Dry silicone spray... pick it up at Wal Mart or your local sporting goods store.

What about the smell from it?
or is it scentless? |

Camp Dry or Hunt Dry. Spray it on a week or so before hunting. I've sprayed it on and hunted a couple of days later during the season.

I bought a can of the powder at my archery shop a couple years ago. It last forever. I've also used the little cans of spray that fly fishermen use on their dry flys to make them float better. A little 4 or 5 oz. pump spray bottle last me a year of hunting.(and we have a long season and I hunt a lot of days) I picked it up at a local Orvis shop for about $6.

I don't think anything you buy in a grocery store is really unscented, even if it says it is. Deoderant, soap, or hairspray. Also hair spray is sort of thick and would make your feathers stiff, not really what you want. I use food grade silicone spray if I have to be in the rain. I have heard great things about the powder treatment. Or you could just fletch up an arrow with vanes incase it rains. Just make sure it flies the same as the other ones.
