Ever feel overwhelmed by all the technical aspects of archery?
I'm starting to get paranoid/obsessed with it... Every year, about this time, just before the hunting season all I think about is paper tuning, arrow straightness, FOC, make sure my string is still good, "is that little fray on my string ok?", is my bow set up perfectly, "doesnt the nock point seem too high, too low...
I cant wait for the season to forget all this and just hunt... only 2 and 1/2 more weeks... |

I know your pain. But I just stay patient and keep working at it untill I feel comfortable. Thats when I become confident and consistent when everything is comfortable and I can focus on little adjustments to fine tune. I don't think I would ever be happy not adjusting something or trying something new.

That's exactly what the 270 days of the year you can't hunt are for. I try to get everything out of the way early, shoot often and rexal and await the season with anticipation.
Next season get worried about the little stuff in May and as the season approches you can relax knowing all is well;) |

Whenever I feel overwhelmed by it all, I just get my favorite selfbow off the rack and hug it. It's my security blanket.;):D

I used to be overwhelmed by all of it and I relied heavily on local shops. Now I'm totally cosumed by it and want to do as much as I can on my own. However I'm not properly equipped to do so at this time. :( Maybe for next season!

No. I don't go looking for problems, and fortunately nothing major has ever arisen for me. I can keep my arrows flying straight and hitting what I want without all the headaches and tinkering.

You really have to take alot of it with a grain of salt. This board can really help you, or it can drive you insane. There are alot of great techies here, but in the end, most of us don't have the time or desire to understand the science behind how an arrow leaves a bow. For me, I would rather spend my time shooting and scouting. Once I get my bow shooting good groups, I forget it.

I really don't ever get overwhelmed because I don't read into it that deep. I know how to tune my bow so that it shoots great, then I just practice, scout, and hunt. I never was much of a tinkerer. Yes there are plenty of things I don't know much about...but I don't really care to either.
