O-Rings

I took my bow and arrows up to the pro shop today and told them about my grouping problem. They asked if my broadheads were lined up vertically since I shoot 2 blade heads. I told them they weren't. They said I couldn't shoot accurately if they weren't lined up. I thought this was a bunch of crap. He said to get some o-rings and put them on the bottom of the heads. Then he told me to turn them until they were lined up with my bow string. There was a guy there that had some o-rings. I put them on and brought my bow home. I could have sworn after I left, everyone was laughing at the prank they just pulled. I got home and took my first two shots. Both were bulls-eyes. I was amazed. Does this sound like it could happen?

You didn't say if you were shooting fingers or release. I've heard that for finger shooters the blade should be horizontal, and for release the blade should be vertical. That's because the blade "catches" less air for as the arrow flexes on release.

I shoot a release. With the o-rings, would it be alright to leave these on for deer? The heads aren't on real tight but snug.

zak123 I use the o-rings myself and never had a problem. I use a three blade broadhead lined up with my fletchings.

How ironic this came up. Last night on Adventurebound Outdoors they talked about the exact same thing. The guy was shooting two blade heads. Instead of buying o-rings though he just wrapped dental floss around it a few times.

To snug em' try gumming up the broadhead threads with bowstring wax.

I saw the same show, how ironic is it that we were talking about that here.
