Site ranges

What do you like to set your bow sites at? I have a 4 pin site and currenlty have them set at 10, 20, 30, and 40 yards. Does anyone have a better recommendation. I'm not at all acurate however at the 40 yard mark. Also what do you consider your maximum effective hunting range?

Welcome:)

I believe it depends on the you're trajectory of you arrow and personal preference. I can shoot 1 pin out to 25 yards. I have a second pin set at 40 yards which is my absolute max. I'm confident I can hit the mark and if everything feels right I'll let it go. Some people like to have pins at 10 and 20 yards but on my bow the pins would be stacked. I get a better view through my site with less pins and I shoot enough to know where to hold at a specific distance.

If you confortable with 4 pins that's fine. If you're looking to "open up your site" I would see what you can ahoot with 1 pin. You should be able to shoot 10 and 20 on one pin, maybe out to 25. The I set a second pin at my max shooting distance. For a lot of people they may have 1 pin at 25 on two pins the first at 20 and the second at 30. Really what ever you're comfortable with.

Welcome aboard.

I shoot 4 pins 20,30,40,50 I am pretty darn accurate at every range.I have never shot a deer at more than 25 yards though. But if everything was right i am confident i could make a shot at 50.Go with what feels right, you can always add pins if you want.

I have mine set up at 20, 30, 40, 50. But my twenty yard pin works from zero to 20 yards for me. So I dont need a 10 pin.
