Improving my bow speed?
 

I was wondering if anyone could tell me how i can make my bow faster without changing to lighter arrows or changing my draw weight. Im pretty comfortable shooting at 61 pounds right now. I have an alpine Impact Extreme and I love it. It is very very quiet, I just wish I could get my arrows to fly faster. Any suggestions?

Well your making this diffucult for everyone to come up with a method of making your bow faster without making any changes to your current setup.;)
All I can think of right now is make sure your bow is properly tuned,and the arrows are properly spined for your setup.
Another thing is make sure you dont have any unnessary "stuff" on your bow string.

Without physically changing anything with respect to draw weight and arrow weight........yeah Extreme1 is correct, you are pretty much limited to lightening your string load as much as possible.
Do away with excess nock sets, try a tied in version instead or a string loop, lose any tube style peeps if possible, or go to a "No-Peep" alternative etc. Kisser buttons are generally not necessary.........I have seen string loads that weight a ton and really aren't needed at all. It's just that many people don't really understand that that stuff negatively affects bow performance.

Any chance you can grow a few inches and increase your draw length?;):D

I have found the best way to improve the performance of a bow, is to well, just get a better bow! I know that's not the answer you were you looking for, but it's the truth. A bow will only generate so much energy, period. The only way to increase it's performance is to either up the poundage, and or increase the powerstroke (draw length). If you have a lot of crap on your string you may gain a few fps by lightening it up some. Maybe up to 20 fps depending how much stuff you have on it. You could go to lighter arrows as well, that's normally the best way to increase speed. That however does not increase the effiency of your bow. It will still put out the same amount of energy, just a lighter arrows travels faster is all. Your KE will not change that much, maybe a few ft/lbs if that.

What is your set up right now. What type of arrow, and weight are you shooting? What's on your string at the moment? What speeds are you getting now, and what would you like to achieve? My guess would be unless you have a lot of extra weight on your string the only speed advantage you get will be on the chronograph. I doubt any of it will actually effect the performance of the bow. Your pin settings may very well stay the same, so in actuality you gained nothing. And I don't know that I would experiment with it this close to season unless you like messing with your bow a lot. You could always try it and see though.

You want to get the best speed you can out of it. Like said above, ditch the peep and get a No Peep, use a tied on knock and shoot right off the string. Then move your string silencers as close to the axles and you can and still have them be effective. You could also play with speed nocks near the cams. And also like said above, make sure it's tuned as well as possible, that might give you a few extra fps.

If you do all that and the chrono says you gained speed, go shoot it with the same pin settings and see if anything really changed or not. Then decide if it was worth it.

The only reason I am saying any of this, and sort of have an attitude about it is because I have been there. I have played this game before. My advice, don't worry about it and just shoot the bow. When you decide you want a faster rig, go get a more effecient bow.
