Default 100 yards?!

my roommate and i were out at the local range shooting and we were shooting pretty good at 50 yards so we decided to take the bag target over to the 100 yard rifle range and see if we could hit it. well let me tell you, shooting at 100 yards is way fun! i had a couple hit the bag and a few overs that were just short of the bag and then, bulls eye dead center of the center ring! i would encourage people to shoot at longer distances because then moving back to 20 yards, u can hit a fly. i have no plans of shooting a deer or any animal that far with my bow but it was fun anyway

Haven't tried 100 yards, but I was shooting practice shots at 70 last year. Shooting long ranges sure makes the short range shots seem like slam-dunks.

My backyard will not allow a 100 yard shot!!!! I have shot at 60 yards however. I am not sure my neighbor would be thrilled with me shooting at 100 yards. I would be standing on their deck!!!!!

My buddy Frank and myself a few years ago stepped back to 95 yards on a McKenzie bedded buck 3D target (rangefinder verified) as that's as far as we could get in his yard........we adjusted our 3D sights to that range, and proceeded to drill about 9 out of 10 shots into at least the 8 ring (vitals) with quite a few 10's.
It is fun and darn good form practice, but in reality it's not much different than shooting at a closer range if you have a sight setting for that far........but when you step back into 20 yards or so and it feels like you could throw an arrow into the 10 ring.

I would lay money that there are more misses at 20 yards than at 100 yards.

Shooting long range has always been fun for me. When practice starts to get into a routine it`s fun to change it up a bit. It really makes you focus on all aspects of your shot.

i have practiced at 60 yards for the last 10 + years i think not only does it build your confidence up but a 20 yard shot becomes almost reflex.

I completely agree. My yard allows me to shoot a 100 yard shot but I've not gone past 70 yet. It really is great practice. Anything inside 35 yards feels like a chip shot.
