Which would you rather hunt?

Scrapes? Rublines? Trails?

Trails. I have heard rublines aren't productive and hunting right on a scrape is not a good idea either.

Really depends on the time of the year.;)

Definitely the trails, better percentages. But I like to hunt the between a good scrape and a bedding area if I know there is a monster around.

Trails or oak trees that are dropping nuts.

Usually the rublines will be found along a trail. Scrapes USUALLY get hit at night, so I try to hunt interesecting trails.

Trails all the way unless its rut then i hunt rubs and scrapes.

I've had a lot more success hunting trails. I'm always looking for an area where the terrain forces the deer to concetrate their movement thus giving me many more shot opportunities. I usually find rubs and scrapes close by.

Trails....where the lay of the land makes them travel a certain route (ie funnel).

It depends on the type of season. Here in Iowa early in the season the best place to be is on heavily traveled trails. Most of the big bucks are in the corn and you need to get between where they are bedding and the corn. Alot of the big boys lay in the corn though. When the rut hits, it is good to hunt close to rubs and scrapes that appear to be freshened on a daily basis. NOT RIGHT ON TOP OF THEM THOUGH!

Another vote for trails. Paricularly about 100 feet in the woods from corn/bean field on intersecting ridgelines under a white oak tree in the first part of November during the first quarter of a new moon. Not hard to do,eh? Oh yeah, don't forget the wind!

Too many variables. What time of year? What environment?

All else equal, I will take rublines leading to a thick cutover.

A rubline is a trail

scrapes are a sucker's bet. Although I did shoot my largest whitetail over a scrape

Tough one, it depends on too many what if's.......if it was the rut i would hunt scrapes, and rub lines, early season i would hunt trails.

Probably Trails:)

RE: Which would you rather hunt?

I like areas where several trails cross or intersect. The more trails you've got the better your chances. If you find a hot scrape, try to set your stand in the primary downwind direction about 50 yards or so, as many times mature bucks will circle downwind to check a scrape and may or may not come in depending on if the scrape has been worked by a hot doe. By positioning your stand downwind of the scrape you may see deer you wouldn't have seen had you placed your stand closer to the scrape.
