This is the mech test I have been waiting on. Not sure if I have enough KE and I sure don't have time to change before opening day.

5Shot- I have been shooting these heads for the last couple weeks and have found that they penetrate almost as well as all of the fixed position heads that I have used in the past. They shoot right with my field tips and by the way the blades open you lose virtually no energy when the blades depoly. Accoring to G5 it only takes 1 pound of energy to fully deploy the blades on the Tekan.

However with that said, it does concern me that you lost blades during your tests. Would you care to go into a little more detail on exactly how the Tekans lost the blades? They blades are .40" thick so I would have thought that they would almost be unbreakable.

You can allay your concern by making a pledge that you will never intentionally shoot your mechanicals into hard and dry plywood, steel drums, hard rubber vehicle tires, and any other median that the broadhead is not operationally meant to penetrate.

Also, call the broadhead manufacturer and advise them of your concern regarding certain and apparent defects that resulted from shooting plywood, steel drums, rubber tires, etc. I would be curious as to what would be said to you. ;)

The blades on the Tekan are held in place by lttle "tabs" at the top. If the head is unscrewed from a shaft the blades can slide out, especially if the O ring is missing. I think these same tabs broke off when they were forced open so hard. Like I said in my tests I doubt you would loose a blade in an animal, except maybe a direct shoulder/hip/spine hit. Overall they are a good head and penetrate very well. I would feel comfortable using them on deer size game personaly.
