Shooting feathers in the rain??
 

Has anyone who shoots feathers ever seen it not affect your bow? I shoot mine in the rain and wet and can't tell a big difference at 20-25 yards. Anyone ever had this effect?

Have been able to see any big differance at close range. Havnt shot the longer ranges, but im fine for hunting.

Is this with broadheads or field points?

If a rainfall is to be drenching and steady throughout the day, I do not hunt. However, if a hard rain is short-lived or intermittent showers, I keep my fletch protected by a cover on the quiver and a flip-cover over the fletch of the shaft loaded on my bow.

I hear all these stories about drenched fletched and wonder why. If a person is sitting in a tree stand or ground blind, why is it he or she cannot cover his/her fletch?

i have used several prouducts and one of them is the spray on stuff from whisker bisquet and it works quite well as well as the waterproofing spray from extreme scents both have awesome water shedding effects!

I use a waterproof shoulder quiver to keep my feathers dry when it is raining cats and dogs, but once in a while I do get caught in the rain when I am using my bow quiver, some of my hunting arrows are fletched with goose feathers, I really like how they fly and also how quiet they are in flight, plus these feathers are somewhat waterproof.... And I also LOVE hunting in the rain, seems like the rain really gets the animals pumped and moving around, the rain is really beneficial in stalking situations when you need the quietness and closeness when pursuing your game...;)

I just turn my arrows around in the quiver so that the nocks are in the foam the hood on the quiver is adequate to keeping my feathers out of the rain. The arrow I have nocked in my bow I try my best to just keep it covered with my hand but other then that I never have seen any real difference in flight wether if they are wet or dry.

I use a very light powder stuff on my feathers. I can't recall who makes it, but I usually coat before season, then every two weeks if need be and I've never had a feather lay down. I also don't hunt in downpours either. In all day light rains I've never had a problem.
