Ground Hunting From the Corn?
 

This year I planted corn and soybeans in strips, with the thought of maximizing cover and summer/winter food sources. I also was pretty careful to plant the main strip of Soybeans - 30yds wide between 2 acres of corn. My intent is to try to ambush an early season buck feeding in the soybeans between the corn with a bow. I would maybe sit on the ground back a couple rows downwind of the beans.





I also plan to hunt the hedgerow the stand is that overlooks the field - this is where the picture was taken from.

Has anyone bowhunted from inside a couple rows? Any Tips? Maybe its not such a good idea? - I'd appreciate any input.

I scouted a little already and watched one buck come from out of the corn tofeed in the strip - so I guess I'm going to have to worry about them bedding in it too.

I have done this for geese. Break the corn stalk right above the ears and bend it down in the first 2 rows. This will give you an opening to shoot out and make it more dense low so the deer can't see your movement. Also make sure you can draw without making noise (dry corn can be noisy). I have never tried it for deer but I hope to plant some corn some day and then I will give it a try. I would think it would work very nicely. Good luck with it.

Works great took a doe last year just like that, i was set up 5 rows in from the edge, the deer walked right down the edge right to the shooting lane, nice 5 yard shot.
