RE: How Much Will You Spend???
Hoyt Vipertec - $650
Whisker Bisquit - $50
Montana Black Gold sight - $50
Truglo stabilizer - $30
New dozen arrows - $75
Bohning Lynx quiver - $15
Magnus Stinger broadheads - $40
New NatGear coat - $50
New NatGear pants - $50
2 new treestands @ $70/ea
2 sets climbing sticks @ $40/ea
Nifty Primos gloves I saw one day at the pro shop $10
New long sleeve Realtree HD shirt for early season $20
Scent Shield Shower Kit $30
Scent Shield spray $15
IL bow tag & license - $40
WI non-red bow tag $160
Hunting lease - $800
Total $2305
And that doesn't include all the gas driving back and forth between hunting spots 3 hours away, all the time I'm gone from home, the time off work, the time spent on the toilet reading Bowhunter magazine, and all the other little hidden costs.
Oh yeah - figure in another $150 for venison processing and $400 for my mount after I shoot my P&Y buck in about 2 months. [8D]

I'm either really cheap or really poor compared to you guys. Is all that stuff just this year?

Up until this year I hadn't really bought anything big in 5 years or so. It was time to get some new camo, bow, accessories, stand, etc. Now I'm set for awhile and my yearly cost *should* go back down to maybe a dozen arrows and my tags.

I probably have close to $500 in it this year, just because I bought a used Parker Super Mag from a co-worker and new arrows for it. Otherwise I was always under $100, including license, for the last couple of years. I do have an interesting story about this topic, though.
My Pastor got me back into archery hunting a couple of years ago and he often used hunting stories as illustrations in his sermons. One sermon, shortly after he bagged a nice 10 point a coupel years ago, he was talking about the amount of time he had put into hunting that year, sort of saying that there were things that he had left undone as a result, but he summed up by saying, "But I was able to put meat on the table for my family." I almost laughed out loud. True, he had put meat on the table, but I knew that he had spent $200 on supplies that year, plus his $35 license, plus $90 for processing the deer, then another $135+ for a European mount, totalling close to $450-$500 for the 60-70 pounds of meat he 'was able to put on the table'. That's $6.50 to $8.33 per pound! He could have bought a lot of beef, pork and chicken and had more meat than that buck gave him for his table. Of course, as we all know, it's not about numbers when it comes to hunting. It's the experience and memories.
