If you want a bunch of answers, post this question on taxidermy.net
Most of these guys have been doing these things for years. Thanks for the woodchuck again :) |
RE: Tanned Whitetail RUG???
This is where I got mine done. [link]http://www.wbplace.com/[/link] Just put about 5 to 10 pounds of canning salt on the flesh side of the hide and let it sit for about a week. Then box it up and ship it ups to them with instructions to tan it with hair on. I think it ran about $60 but that was 6 years ago.
If you do this put down some plastic on the garage floor and lay the hide out hair down. Then salt the entire hide. You will get some water that will run off so keep an eye on it. Good luck with it. They also have good instructions on the site for what to do. I get all my hides tanned there (hair off) to make coats. |
RE: Tanned Whitetail RUG???
Get the September issue of "Field and Stream" they have a "how to" article on just that.
