I never had until last year during muzzle loader season, the younger deer was still up her momma's butt, however she seemed old enought to take care of herself without the mom. The yearling was walking around her mom after she dropped, and i really, really, really felt bad..........so bad in-fact i was contemplating on shooting the yearling to put her loss at ease[:o]. I decided she would be fine, and anther doe would probably take her under her wing. So yes, i do shoot mature does with youngens, only if they are outta spots!

I'll shoot a doe with young, they are plenty old enough to fend for themselves by the time hunting season roles around.

Hunting in earn a buck I will shoot any adult doe that comes by. The fawns will be fine on their own.

The fawn will be fine with out the mother. However, I will not do it. I just don't want to leave an orphan out there when I could just kill another doe. I know all about dispersement etc. I just don't do it as a matter of personal preference.

Forget the momma, shoot the little ones (as long as they dont have buttons), a little corn-fed yearling doe is about as good as it gets when it comes to good eating!!!! Not as much meat as the big ones but nice and tender...yum yum.

The fawns are fine...if you wait around for a "dry" doe without fawns or a yearling that you know is a yearling and a yearling that you know doesn't have fawns hidden in the bush you could be eating doe tag soup this winter. Good luck, go for it.
