Default Do they stay come fall?

I have always read that if a buck is on your property this time of year then it probably won't be come fall. What is your opinion?

I really think it depends on the deer, and the area he's living in. If a buck has food, cover, and does, I don't see why he would want to leave. But, some deer just wander. I think deer stick aroiund more than people think. Sometimes they just get harder to see come fall.

A lot of them will be gone by fall or at least before the rut. The domant ones probably will still be there. The good thing, yes you loose some..... but hey, you get some replacements from other places.

Like David said, many will leave the area. The mature bucks will likely stay in their home range throughout the year but that home range can be 5 sq miles. The immature bucks, especially your yearlings and 1.5 year olds will most likely leave the area. It's called yearling dispersal. The does stay in their home ranges from birth to death under most circumstances. The yearling dispersal allows mother nature to avoid inner breeding between offspring and their birth doe but like David, you'll acquire deer moving into your area as well.

But the number start to dwindle off because of hunting, vehicle collisions, predation, etc. The most bucks out there this year will be the day before hunting season.
