RE: I can't hit a the broadside of a barn!
Powder testing is done by using "powder-type" spray deodorant or foot spray to tell if you're getting contact with the rest, shelf, riser, etc. Just spray it on the latter 1/3 of your arrow and your vanes. Shoot into something that is not going to let the vanes go through, then look for signs that the vanes are making contact with something on your bow. (Sorry if I'm not very good at explaining clearly) There should be small marks where your arrow rides the rest, but nothing else if you're getting adequate clearance.

RE: I can't hit a the broadside of a barn!
Zak, the inconsistent shooting and poor grouping you describe - from your two 'good' arrows - is a perfect example of what one would expect with underspined arrows. IMO, you were underspined at the point where you bought those arrows, especially intending to shoot 100 gn fixed blade heads. You definitely need 5575's.
For future reference, when you look at the spine chart for carbon arrows and find you're right at the upper end of one shaft's rating... where another 25 grains of tip weight, another 5 pounds of draw weight, or another inch of arrow length will put you in the next size... always, ALWAYS, jump up to the next size. That goes double when you intend to shoot fixed blade heads. |
RE: I can't hit a the broadside of a barn!
Ok thanks Auther P. I did manage to hit the same spot 4 times in a row but I then hit else where. I will pick up some 5575 arrow shafts.

RE: I can't hit a the broadside of a barn!
Zack I was in your postion last year, except with carbon express terminators. I was just borderline like you and since I was shooting fixed blades they were shooting all over the place! I got a new bow and the next step arrows and my brodheads are now hitting in the same 3" circle as my fieldtips at 20 yards.

RE: I can't hit a the broadside of a barn!
From what I can see is my arrows are curving off to the right when they are halfway to the target.

RE: I can't hit a the broadside of a barn!
Instead of running out to buy new arrows, why not just drop a few pounds off your draw? 50 lbs is plenty enough to shoot through a MS deer, especially with a COC broadhead.
