RE: Would you shoot a fawn?

first off...i had several shots at fawns last year but passed becasue i was hoping for a shot on a buck or a mature doe. this year, im not going to be so picky when it comes to antlerless deer. fawns are great for the table. i've shot 2 or 3 with a gun...mmmm good. yes, there are fawns with spots into the sesaon. a close friend said he was bowhunting in mid november and saw a fawn with spots! that fawn probbaly didnt make it through the winter.

No I would not. They are illegal anyway.

Nope. I would not shoot a small doe regardless if it was a fawn or not. I have had opportunities to shoot an adult doe and passed as well. That's because she had her two young tagging along. This was early on in the season. My rule is to generally allow them to carry on, but I change that thought when shotgun season begins. During bow season I will only take adult does or decent bucks. It's just as much fun and excitement watching them and allowing them to pass without them knowing your whereabouts.
Ditto.

Yes I would.Nothing like veal venison. Our archery deer season is long here in Illinois and in the county that I live in and hunt "MOST"There are ample times to get that dandy buck.To much emphisis is put on trophy hunting and deer with horns.Don't get me wrong if a nice racked deer meanders by I will hold out for him.If I am hunting in some of the smaller suberbia lots I hunt for meat.Spots probably would detour me somewhat.

I'm getting older. I think this year I should strive for easy drags. If I can keep the weight under 50 pounds I can probably strap it to my climber and walk out.[8D];););):D:D

RE: Would you shoot a fawn?

No, I won't shoot them. Could be button bucks.
You can judge them by the length of their face. Very short.
I won't harvest a doe until November either just to make sure the fawn has been weened. IMO
